FEA Stress Analysis Example
A drive flange used in a mining operation was showing minor cracking. An
FEA analysis confirmed regions of high stress in the cracking area.
Re-design of the part within the same geometrical limits, but with
reduced stress levels, was achieved. This enabled a new part to be
machined in readiness for changeover when failure was imminent, thus
avoiding a prolonged high cost shut down of processing.
